Buy Some Sneakers For a Good Cause

My good friend Trip has a new outlook on life and is selling some seriously great sneakers. Even better, and the reason I am posting it here is because he’s donating all the money from the shoes he sells to a good cause. Some of the gems include signed and authenticated Jordan 12s from Carmelo Anthony and a pair of Jordan Defining Moments signed by Michael Jordan himself.

ASICS GEL Blur33 2.0: Red, White & Blur

Thanks to ASICS for sending over this package yesterday. With everything sports, apparel or sneaker related being focused on the 2012 London Olympics, the presentation of this pack is superb.

The ASICS GEL BLUR33 2.0 Limited Edition was released as part of the Flag Collection (which is available at local Foot Locker stores). This pack came with a pair of the USA inspired GEL BLUR33 2.0, along with a matching t-shirt and hoodie. As you can see from the pics, the shoes are already on my feet but one of my favorite elements of this package is the cards for all of the ASICS sponsored athletes. Lolo Jones, Ryan Hall, Sharon Day, Julie Culley, Kara Patterson, Amy Acuff, Jordan Burroughs and the women’s field hockey team are included. Each card spotlights the athlete’s accomplishments, Olympic event(s), a way to connect with them through social media and their favorite ASICS shoe.

It’s great to see ASICS remembering the importance of the athlete and giving them some shine.

Thank you for the gift ASICS!

WDYWT: 2011 MLB All-Star Nike Air Trainer 1.3

After the Giants represented at last night’s MLB All-Star game, I figured I’d celebrate by wearing one of my favorite baseball inspired sneakers. These were given to me by NDP when I worked for Sole Collector. Originally made for friends and family and the players voted on to the team, I’m incredibly lucky to have a pair. Especially considering the San Francisco Giants were coming off a World Series title and had a solid lineup of players on the squad, all under Giants skipper Bruce Bochy. Pablo Sandoval, Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Ryan Vogelsong and Brian Wilson were all on the team, which made these Nike Air Trainer 1.3 “Fastest Show on Dirt” that much more special for me.

The 3M detailing on the shoes is one of my favorite details. The two-color makeup stands out quite a bit on its own. It when you see the 3M liven up, it’s money. These are low-key in a lot of ways. I’ve worn them to sneaker events and had nobody notice them but the people that do, know their stuff.

Made in the USA: Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star

Decided to wear a pair of Made in the USA Chuck Taylors today. I’m lucky to have a handful of these in my collection and most of them surprisingly don’t get much wear time. I wear Chucks a lot so rather than beat up the older pre-Nike owned Made in the USA versions, I wear them sparingly. These ones are the Brick Red colorway and they get even less on-feet time because they are low-tops and I prefer the high-top Chucks.

Happy 4th of July!

Made in the USA: New Balance 1300

Another day of Made in the USA, another New Balance sneaker. This 1300 I picked up from Your City My City thanks to the heads up of @airon0828. The material on the 1300 is always top notch and this colorway was an easy choice. I like how the structure of the 1300 is soft compared to silhouettes like the 576 or 574. It conforms to the foot a little better in my opinion, making it slightly more comfortable.

Made in the USA: Concepts x New Balance 576

I haven’t done any “What Did You Wear Today?” posts on here for a while so I figured I’d do something completely original for this week and wear some Made in the USA sneakers. You know, because it’s almost 4th of July and nothing says patriotism like the monotony of repeated blog posts on the same subject to slam home some keywords and throw ads in front of your face!

It’s capitalism at its finest isn’t it?

These New Balance x Concepts 576s released in 2007 and the box featured a a soft suede insert with an on embossed New Balance logo on the outside using the same material that was on the shoe. It’s a cool feature and I should have taken a picture of it! As for the shoe, the material is money! The only thing I wouldn’t have done is gone with the patent on the heel, otherwise, it’s a perfect summer shoe, hence, I am wearing them with some Levi’s.
