Project Canvas Shoes… The Art of Customization

Project Canvas’ mission is simple yet powerful: to empower the youth by inspiring creativity while encouraging belief in themselves. Let’s face it, it’s not very often a brand comes on to the scene whose product is molded to inspire. Yet, Project Canvas has created a product for the masses that allows your creativity to run wild, a blank natural canvas shoe.

Debuting in May, Project Canvas Shoes made its way onto the scene in creative style, with an incredible selection of celebrity designed Project Canvas Shoes. The beautiful customized shoes designed by Jeff Staple, Mariah Carey, Cee-lo Green, Swizz Beats, Ellen DeGeneres to mention a few, launched PC’s inaugural silent shoe auction. The event held at the Opera Gallery in NYC, painted a clear picture of Project Canvas’ creative and philanthropic visions, helping raise over $30,000 for UrbanArts.org that evening. With a visibly strong philanthropic side, PC has held multiple silent shoe art auctions as well as in-store art events; where customers can buy a pair of natural canvas shoes and have them customized on site by Project Canvas artists, with a portion of sales being donated to local charities. Simply, PC has provided a space for individual creativity to shine in the sneaker industry, while giving back to the community.

Without a doubt, Project Canvas definitely hit the ground running, and plans to keeping the momentum going with some huge plans for the future. First off, Project Canvas will also be releasing a monthly webisode featuring artists and skateboarders that work with PC for CCS.com. PC is also very excited for the limited edition collaborations with top shoe designers, skateboarding companies and art supply companies that are in the works.  Not to mention a ton of live shoe art events coming up, starting with Canvas Shop in Seal Beach on 9/29, a Project Canvas Pop-up Gallery during LA Art Walk on 10/11, and last but not least Home Mercantile in Encinitas (date TBA).

I must admit it is refreshing to see a company that really understands the evolution of art. The juxtaposition of the Art, Fashion, Sneaker, and Music communities has made creativity rampant in mainstream society. Impeccably aware of the shift, Project Canvas urges our youthful sides to create, since “each day we live is another brushstroke to our canvas”.  But of course, we should add those brushstrokes to the canvas shoes we walk a thousand miles in, that we call our Project Canvas.

Support the brand, support the youth… Project Canvas Shoes
