Somehow even with the economy still in turmoil and so many car companies struggling to stay afloat companies are getting to a horsepower war. Ford has announced that for the 2011 model year Mustang GT will have a increase to 412hp from a familiar 5.0L V8. When you look at the Mustang and its domestic competitors it is now a lot more even playing ground, at least in the horsepower range. The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS has a 6.2-liter V8 with 422hp. The 2010 Dodge Charger SRT8 has a 6.1-liter Hemi with 425hp. The thing is that the Mustang is the one that is successful not only at the drag strip but also only a road racing course as well. It will be interesting to see what else is in store for next model year’s Mustang and what the competition will do as well.
